UTAH GHOST RESEARCH & INVESTIGATION

www.ugriteam2.com

UGRI (Utah Ghost Research & Investigation) focuses on the investigation and research of paranormal activity (such as spirits/ghosts/apparitions/etc). The goal and purpose of UGRI is to document these experiences as thoroughly and accurately as possible. The members of UGRI are a group of people from, the Wasatch front in UT, who all share the same interest, in spiritual, paranormal, and the unexplained. None of our members are paid for the work and research/investigation that we do. Our members have purchased all equipment used by UGRI, unless specified otherwise. During our investigations, we have the utmost respect for the paranormal, sprits, and places we are investigating.

We have no desire to publish any form of false media (pictures, evp, stories, etc.) Our goal, in the simplest form, is to document the paranormal/unexplained. Our overall mission is to try to explain, understand and document the paranormal.

We have a specific protocol that we follow on every investigation. A protocol is a specific list of things that we will do, not do, or obey. To review our protocol, read below:

We will always make safety our number one priority.
We will never investigate alone. For several reasons, among them is Safety concerns and witness to claims.
We will not bring children to any UGRI investigation.
We will be respectful of private and public properties. We will use no means of forced entry or enter areas marked No Trespassing.
We will not be under the influence of alcohol during investigations.
We will not smoke during an investigation. (To avoid the false effect of mist/ecto/etc and have respect for the dead.)
We will always be responsible and appropriate during investigations. (No horseplay, no foul language, etc)
We will not discuss any investigation, location, and information (personal or business) with anyone outside of UGRI. Unless we are given permission. We respect privacy.
We will always dress appropriately. No shiny clothes to reflect off the camera, no disrespectful attire, etc.
We will not conduct an investigation if the weather is not appropriate. This means no taking pictures in the rain/snow/fog/heavy winds/etc.
We will always clean our equipment and camera lenses prior to, and during investigations to avoid false pictures and keep the lenses clean.
We will always remove or hold the straps from a camera to avoid false vortex's.
We will not take pictures with direct light or a reflection towards the camera, to avoid false orbs or mist/vortex's.
We will always hold our equipment in a proper manner to not tamper with its use. (I.e. Keeping fingers away from camera lens, microphone from rubbing against things, etc)

Ghost investigators work year-round

By Susan Harker

Somethin’ goin’ on in your neighborhood

… who ya gonna call? Utah Ghost Research and Investigators.

UGRI is a non-profit group of about 15 people who have a very serious

interest in the spiritual paranormal. Safety is our number one priority,”

said Rusty Carroll, UGRI President. “We always go in big groups.”

They also go with a positive attitude. “We aren’t there to harm anyone

or any spirit,” Carroll said. “We don’t allow smoking, cussing, loud laughing,

giggling or immodest dress. If there is a spirit from the 1800s we

wouldn’t want to offend them by a lady wearing spaghetti straps.”

Another priority is that you must believe in God. Ghost hunts always

start and end with prayer. “Prayer is part of our safety,” Carroll said.

Carroll is also quick to point out that they are NOT devil worshippers.

They do not allow devil worshippers or witches to go with them on their

hunts. “We meet with anyone who wants to join and then decide whether

or not we will allow them to come with us. Carroll believes their organization

is the most reliable in Utah because they are so serious about

what they do. To go ghost hunting, you need some basic equipment. UGRI uses a Canon Powershot G3, which takes great pictures in the dark due to the

very light flash. A night vision camcorder is also used. EMF Detectors

detect electronic frequencies in the air while infrared detectors detect cold

spots by casting an invisible beam within three feet of where you are

standing. Another great tool to ghost hunt with is a compass. Spirits consist

of electromagnetic energy, according to Carroll, and this energy disrupts the

electromagnetic field, causing the needle to move in different directions.

You must wear dark clothing and dark shoes when ghost hunting to

avoid reflections in the photographs. Some of the best places to hunt are

cemeteries, but it’s not the only place to find ghosts. Other places where

UGRI has recorded activity are Capitol Theater, Salt Lake Cemetery

and the wooded park in Sugar House.

Dress warmly when you hunt. After a spirit leaves a body, it is no

longer as warm. One time in the Salt Lake Cemetery, the air temperature

was 52 degrees. Within a matter of minutes, the temperature dropped to

10 degrees below zero and the electromagnetic energy was off the scale.

This activity is recorded with a digital thermometer.

Carroll first became involved in ghost hunting when his son-in-law

and daughter went to a park in Sugar House (not Sugar House park). They

had a recorder with them and when they got home they discovered that

there were sounds on the recorder that they hadn’t heard with their natural

ears. Later, Carroll’s son-in-law asked if he could borrow Carroll’s camera.

Carroll told him no but that he would be happy to go with him.

Does he ever get scared? “I was startled once when an entity

threw something and hit me in the leg,” he said, “but I have never really

been scared. I believe these ghosts are here for a reason. It’s not a bad thing

to have a ghost in your house. It is also a rarity for a ghost to harm someone.”
